Sentara Community Care Center
Sentara Health has officially opened a Community Care Center in Newport News, expanding access to critical health and wellness services for individuals and families in Newport News and surrounding areas. The new Sentara Community Care Center, located at 3509 Chestnut Avenue, is designed as a one-stop resource for medical care, wellness education, and social support.
Alongside the health center, the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank Food Hub is now open on-site, providing fresh, nutritious food options to help community members manage health conditions and improve overall well-being.
Comprehensive Health and Wellness Services
The Sentara Community Care Center brings a broad range of health services to the community, including:
- Primary Care – High-quality, accessible medical care
- Behavioral Health & Mental Health Support – Spaces for counselors and community health workers
- Prenatal & Postpartum Care – Support for mothers and infants
- Physical Therapy & Chiropractic Services – Including manual therapy, post-surgical rehab, and orthopedic care
- Health & Wellness Education – Workshops and classes on nutrition, chronic disease management, and mental health support
- Community Spaces – Multi-purpose rooms for hosting events, activities, and connecting patients with local resources
With flexible hours and walk-in availability, the center ensures that individuals can receive care when they need it most.

- Monday & Tuesday: 8 AM – 5 PM
- Wednesday & Thursday: 8 AM – 6 PM
- Friday: 8 AM – 2 PM
- Second & fourth Saturday of each month: 8 AM – Noon

Food as Medicine: Virginia Peninsula Foodbank Food Hub
The Virginia Peninsula Foodbank has also opened a Food Hub Pantry Site at the Chestnut Avenue location. This initiative aims to reduce food insecurity and promote healthier lifestyles by providing nutrient-rich food options and educational resources.
